Aprilias SR 50 has set the pace for scooter technology ever since it was introduced in 1992. With the SR 50, Aprilia was the first manufacturer to offer a real sports scooter, creating a whole new market segment. Despite numerous attempts by the competition over the years, the SR 50 has remained the undisputed market leader, thanks to continuous upgrades in technology that have kept it beyond the reach of other scooters. ENGINE: RECORD BREAKING TECHNOLOGY

The first ever scooter equipped with a fuel injected two stroke engine is now powered by a second generation Ditech engine. A new, more compact air filter and a special new exhaust design have increased performance and further reduced the engines already miserly fuel consumption.

This generous 50 cc single cylinder engine also boasts a long list of innovations to improve functioning and make it more reliable than ever, so much so that the service interval has been doubled, from 6000 to 12000 kilometres, making the SR 50 more economical than ever to run.

All the other great features of this fantastic engine, built to combine unrivalled performance with incredible fuel consumption, remain unchanged.

- The entire system is controlled from the instrument panel which can even perform engine control unit diagnostics over a K line connection. The SR 50 R Factory is also equipped with electronically controlled fuel and oil pumps.

Extremely low fuel consumption and a generous 7 litre tank allow the SR 50 to run for extended periods without refuelling. You can easily do over 300 kilometres on one full tank.

Extensive prototype testing has resulted in optimised weight distribution. Components like the expansion chamber and oil tank have been moved towards the front of the scooter to increase weight over the front wheel (+2% compared to the previous model), giving the new SR 50 R Factory an even more “big-bike feel.

The SR 50 has always been unbeatable for stability in a straight line and through bends. The new SR 50 R Factory delivers even better chassis performance, benefiting not only handling but, more importantly, safety too. Handling is incredibly easy, thanks to the precision steering and exceptional agility achieved by the new weight distribution.

Safety and control are further guaranteed by a fantastically effective braking system, with two 190 mm discs for maximum stopping power.

The 13 inch wheels are still fitted with 130/60 super-low-profile, motorcycle style tyres (that have always been a feature of the SR). This combination would be more than enough for engines far bigger than 50 cc, and offers extra assurance of great road holding under all conditions.

The SR 50s riding position is designed for maximum control as well as comfort, and a specially shaped seat prevents fatigue on long rides.

The classic under-seat storage compartment already accommodates a full-face helmet with ease, but is now accompanied by a second compartment in the nose of the seat, providing over a litre of extra space for stowing mobile phones and other small items.

What really sets the SR 50 R Factory aside from the competition is the high level of technology of its equipment. The components of the SR 50 link it more closely than ever with Aprilias top supersport motorcycles and make this exceptional scooter safe to ride, eye-catching and sporty.

- ACTIVE MATRIX DIGITAL-ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANEL, even more sophisticated than the unit fitted to the RSV 1000.

The analog rev counter is accompanied by a large size display that incorporates the functions of an on-board computer (controlled directly from the handlebars). The unit acts as a terminal for the engine electronics, and provides diagnostic functions never before found on a 50 cc scooter.

Naturally, the SR 50 has all the usual instruments and function indicators, like rev counter, fuel gauge, coolant temperature gauge, direction indicator and main beam, fuel reserve, clock, speedometer, and odometer. But the SR is also equipped two trip counters, a battery voltage meter, a chronometer (with memory for up to 16 lap times), journey time, average and maximum trip speed, electrical graphic warning light (for connection/indicator/ECU faults), a general warning light and a service indicator.

APRILIA SR 50 R

The SR 50 R features the same fantastic technical innovations as the Aprilia SR 50 R Factory, but its equipment is simpler to keep price extremely competitive.

The engine is a modern, liquid cooled, carburettor fuelled two stroke. The SR 50 R engine delivers a truly high level of performance, and in conjunction with the advanced new chassis (shared with the SR 50 R Factory) guarantees an unbeatable ride. The SR 50 R differs from the SR 50 R Factory in the following points:
